A Couple of Musical Diversions

So our days are jam-packed now pretty much 24 x 7. Megan is into the throws of Kindergarten and homework.  Yeah, homework.  They don’t mess around too much around here.  They know what it takes to build a good educated Democrat here in California – that’s blue state humor.  Well, all in all, Megan’s activities are under control and structured and doesn’t really take up too much time out of the day. The other 20 hours of the day are taken up by housework, work work, and taking care of Julian.  He is growing rather quickly into a happy joyful little baby boy and we are grateful.

A Little Bit Tough Lately

I haven’t written in a while and usually, there are a few reasons for my being so out of touch.  Either I’ve been tremendously busy, or life has just gotten bad enough that I’ve decided to isolate away from sharing or documenting anything.  Unfortunately, it’s due to both.  Lessons learned, the last time this happened, I missed out on about four years of my life and part of me just knew that I can’t let that happen again.

The Name Jul-ian

julian-logo.gifSo the background behind Julian’s name is that initially Elizabeth and Megan liked the named Ian.  I actually liked the name Ian too. One always relates names to others they have known about throughout their lives – there was this guy at summer camp who was the “cool” guy.  You know, the guy guy – a very hetero thing mind you.  Anyhow, he was the guy who was taller than everyone, reached puberty before everyone, wore cool t-shirts, played sports well, was nice to everyone, and was your all around cool dude.  That was Ian.

Julian's Arrival

The day finally arrived – it was a bit earlier than originally expected, but welcome nonetheless.  The day was last Wednesday, June 18, 2008 and events started with a phone call – (just like in the movies).  It was pretty exciting.  And, with the usage of web2.0 socialization technologies Flickr and Twitter, I was able to blog events in near real-time with my BlackBerry.  (I know.. I know.. it’s sooo “Jimmy Olsen” of me):
