Pre-Memorial Day Trip

Life Record

Last week was a very special week where Megan and I spent all of it in New York City – just herself and I visiting the Grandparents (my parents).  Due to work, Elizabeth flew out later and joined us for the remainder of the trip for Memorial Day weekend.

Back in 2005 (Fingers Crossed)

Life Record

rainystreet.jpgConsulting work continued to flow in and we were grateful. Our savings were being replenished as we were still under my parents’ roof. This definitely helped with managing the expenses I must say. Also, our confidence was quickly returning and there was a sense of having a purpose in this harsh world again. Something about running a family business into the ground really can put a damper on one’s day.

Yeah, in the news again.. The last time this happened was (click here) and (click here too).

Okay.  Ya got me.  It’s really Photoshop and I’m just having a little fun.  And yes, a looming recession?  I’m pretty nervous.  Man, just getting over the last one … was the first one I had to deal with as a working adult, and honestly, that one freakin sucked. 🙂

Meet Suwph (Joe)

Life Record

suwph.jpg
Meet Suwph (pronounced Joe).  This is Megan’s first stuffed animal that she named.  She has a ton of other stuffed animals, but Suwph was a gift from a classmate.  And she likes to draw Suwph. She spells his name S-U-W-P-H and calls him “Joe.”

One night, we had just tucked Megan in bed and she was fast starting to fall asleep. Nothing like the warm feeling of sleep embarking – so I thought. It was apparent that she wasn’t going to fall asleep just yet, but instead, was hanging onto a thought. She stiffened slightly as she spoke to me in a soft voice and told me about a boy. (more…)

I Pissed Off the McDonald's Guy

Life Record

mcdonaldsguys.jpgThe dude that sits behind the big McDonald’s voice at the drive-thru window.  I didn’t think it was possible, but I did it.  I pissed him off.  It wasn’t really on purpose.  It was just more of the outcome of the event.  I do understand that there must be some gratitude of great power to be able to hide behind the large menu board magically knowing when people arrive to then properly announce, “Welcome to McDonald’s.  May I take your order?” leaving us just a little mystified wondering how they actually knew we were there to begin with.  But just alike the great wizard in the land of Oz, when Toto reaches behind and pulls away the curtain, I know every powerful position has it’s limitations.  (more…)
