Crayon Flavored Smiles

Life Record

“Hi Meggie,” I ask, “How was your day?”
“It was fun!” she screams. We giggle.
“What did you go?”
“I played with my friend Malaysia..,” she paused.
“What do you play with Malaysia?” I ask.
“We colored pictures,” she thinks to herself for a second, “and she likes the color green and I like the color purple. Purple is my favorite color, but I can’t color the grass purple, only green. But Malaysia, can color the grass green…” and the conversation sprouts from that point onward.

The Other Bowling Girl

Life Record

other-boleyn-girl-poster.jpg…Or was it, “The Other Boleyn Girl” I probably botched it up. Oh well. It was a cool movie, but that isn’t the point. The point is that I have not been to a movie theatre in years. And it really is just such an amazing experience.

It was last Monday and this IM zooms across my screen:

Elizabeth: hello.
PeterKnight: hi
Elizabeth: we have a date tonight.
PeterKnight: we do?
Elizabeth: the movie starts at 7:20pm (more…)

Back in 2005 (An Understatement)

Life Record

Err.. yeah. Simon Cowell

Life Record

Elizabeth and I have become quite the American Idol buffs.  We’re big fans of the show.  Actually, I think we’ve turned into reality show junkies, but that’s a different story all together.  Anyhow, the new season just started and we’re pretty psyched.

Anyways.  Weird thing.  So Elizabeth wakes up and tells me she just had a dream where Simon Cowell was her boyfriend.  (more…)

Back in 2005 (Break in the Melancholy)

Life Record

The year was 2005.  Elizabeth somberly closed the door to our room being quiet for Megan had just started her nap.  She didn’t look up at me as she passed by in the darkened hall keeping her head down as she proceeded down the staircase.  The house was quiet – sadly so.  We had retreated back to New York City after a failed business and a failed lifestyle shift in Houston.  We were again living in my parents’ house, tucking our left over possessions away in an over-packed bedroom.  It’s not that staying at my parents’ house had negative connotations, but in this context of utter defeat, it certainly was symbolic of such.  Our dreams, our hopes, our goals, our moral as a family was being questioned.  (more…)
