    Every year has its landmarks in history; both personal and within society as a whole.  This year so far, for me, has seemed to be filled with extreme changes; both optimal and not so optimal.  It truly has been so far, a year full of personal growth.  Sometimes, my perception of things wander, and this has left me more bewildered about certain things.  One of which is the concept of life.  Life is short.  Life is actually shorter than it seems.  The reality of this statement certainly rings true when one pays closer attention to things.  The concept of permanence is an illusion to a certain extent.  In all actuality, everything is quite temporary.  One may then take perceptions to a higher extent and question their own mortality.  One may choose to live either safer, to protect oneself, or more adventurous, to achieve a different affect.  Neither, of which, is the correct or incorrect answer, but it does offer a reply to a needed change; especially when confronted with the questions of who you are and what you stand for.  Maybe this marks the beginnings of a so-called mid-life crisis.  Great, this is just what I need going into the millenium.
