10:48 AM [Monolithic] The rain and wind patterns had matured excruciatingly worse. This I witnessed from my window seat, located one row in front of my parents. There was a slight jarring motion as the plane sat patiently in the windy gate while the crew continued with the final flight preparations.
Although being superstitious has its own theories and habitual with me, I can also grow skeptical of them at the drop of a dime. I know I owed Elizabeth a call letting her in on the finalized plans. Tucking down in my seat, I pulled out the cellular phone and dialed her number. The very next event led me to believe that I may have a hint of unfortunateness, and maybe headed for a life full of misfortunes being doomed to be sh-t upon for the rest of my life. No later than 30 seconds after concluding the call to Elizabeth, the cabin speakers squelched on. This is your captain speaking the air traffic tower had just notified us that all South and Southeastern outbound flights from the airport have been canceled. A sudden moan and frustrated hush overcame the cabin. I turned around to my parents. They were both sound asleep. I did not have the heart to wake them.
My honest gut reaction was to kick and scream, unbuckle my seatbelt, run up the aisle, break in the cockpit door, and pilot the plane myself regardless of some punk over-careful air traffic controller. Instead, I slumped in my seat, exhaled, and actually felt like weeping due to the wasted efforts leaving me utterly drained, and possibly missing my own wedding. One minute later, the cabin speaker squelched on again. The captain noted to us that our flight was granted the green light from the tower and we were going to proceed taxiing toward the runway.
The take-off felt like a roller-coaster ride, soon was overtaken by emotional relief and sleeplessness and alike my parents, found myself soundly nodding off.
