3:00AM - [Drizzle] Due to my work schedule, my parents were traveling a day before me, departing on a flight scheduled at noon today. After inquiring with the airlines, it has been confirmed that their flight has been cancelled due to weather conditions, and it was advisable to reschedule their flight as soon as possible to reduce any unwanted delays, yet reservations on immediate future flights are also questionable due to ramifications in the area. The only alternative was to schedule them on an earlier uncanceled flight. After discussing the options, I had booked them on a 6:50AM Flight departing New York City.
I inquired about switching my flight from Friday night. They stated that it would cost me $1500 to make that modification due to the fact that my original outgoing flight had not been cancelled yet. I described my situation and debated that they were taking a re-active strategy as opposed to a greatly needed pro-active strategy for this situation. I did not want to miss my wedding. Coincidentally, the computerized reservation system went down before I was able to make any more progress-I told them I was going to handle this at the airport and to take note of it.
"Ma? Ma? Wake up. We have to get ready ", my words screeched over like an abrupt scratch against a chalkboard. She hustled herself into a panic therefore immediately waking up my father and saving me the task. Waving her hands in the air and nodding her head "no" repeatedly, she hollered about the gift jewelry stored in the safe deposit box at the bank that she needed to fetch before even leaving New York City. And, the bank opened at 8:30 AM-after their scheduled departing flight of 6:50.
Additionally, Beejing would still needed to be dropped off at the kennel later today. Scampering over to the phone, I called the airlines again in hopes of just bringing him with us-but unfortunately, due to the weather and abrupt flying conditions, they responded negatively noting that there is an embargo on any pets traveling on their flights until at least Saturday. I found this ironic for this was a proactive strategy unlike charging me a premium for updating my impending hectic flight itinerary.
