Metal in the 80s

During my teen years, I was heavily influenced by Heavy Metal music. At times, my clothing attire consisted of worn out jeans tightly fitted around my flat buttocks, a black tee shirt displaying a logo of a band, a denim jacket with another band's advertisement painted on the back, a leather studded belt, and worn out sneakers. My hair had grown a quarter way down my back and I got a perm from a local hairdresser named Mr. Carl. When I wandered around the neighborhood in my "teenage rebellious attitude strut," and people were to stare at me, I thought I was "stylin'."

Oddly enough, at the same time, the Heavy Metal Idols that plastered the television music video scenes were dressed a little differently. Their clothing attire consisted of fluorescent, neon colored tight leather pants, a loose flamboyant, silk-like top, and a pair of shiny white Capezio shoes. Their hair was done up to be big and poofy and they wore plenty of make-up ranging from eye shadow to lipstick. They were also as thin and anorexicly stick-like; much like today's supermodels.

Of course, things always seem a lot clearer in retrospect, and I realize that it was just a phase that I was going through as a teenager, but I have always wanted to ask one question. Who was the original Heavy Metal Idol who said, "Hey, you know what? I want to look like HER."?
