Saturday had arrived, and we wanted to have a day of site seeing. We decided to go visit the bar-restaurant Bull & Finch and have lunch there; otherwise known as the frontal setting of the show Cheers. I say frontal cause they say that the inside does not resemble anything like that of the television show. During my teen years, I was a great fan of the show and adored sit-coms in general. I truly believe the writers of these shows have molded my present day sense of humor...Ar Ar! (If you got that you may be effected too. hint--Mork and Mindy). Anyhow, to this day, I still remember all the character's names, Sam, Diane, Coach, Woody, Karla, Cliff, Norm, Fraiser, etc.., you get the idea.
We headed down to the car, ready for the day's activities. Looking at the Bull & Finch brochure, we noted the address and punched in into our trusty GPS unit-84 Beacon.
All, I could think was this place was rather difficult to get to, for after 45 minutes of twists and turns on highways and local streets, we parked in front of 84 Beacon, and glanced over. It was nothing more than a two-story house with a rickety porch out front. It did not resemble anything like that on television. Maybe they did it with mirrors? I don't think so. I turned my head and saw one of the neighbors looking at us. I think they were shaking their heads.
Looking around, the neighborhood was mostly residential and quiet. Elizabeth and I looked at the GPS unit and simultaneously started pushing buttons on it. Possibly prodding it enough may bring back some of its life and luster. Anyhow, after pushing enough buttons, we managed to find out that there were two places in the Boston area that have the address 84 Beacon-yes, 2. The good news is that we were only about eleven miles away and starvation was about to set in.
