Outrageous Thoughts of Babble

12.23.98 Pre-ChristmasI believe that is a sign that the relationship is headed in the right direction. Sweet Liz. Might I add that she can really belt one out from the other end too. I look at it as a different way of "sharing" this fine Christmas season a small token, ones way of sayingHey, I really trust you. Enough to share a little bit more of myself. And allow you to really experience the real me, alike a tight knit family.
Actually, I am a little envious, cause I think she can belt them out better than I can...from both ends. <hehe>.
Okay.
I like Christmas. I really do. Unlike some people who note that this time of year depresses them (and others who rebel against the commercialization of it all), I love it. I soak in all the commercialization; the bright lights, the store windows, the styrofoam snow, the capitalism of it allI love it.
Four weeks ago, Liz and I ripped down the old Christmas lights that lined the outer front doorway; left behind from a previous owner. Half the bulbs were smashed and none of the strands actually worked. Graciously, we pinned up the new colored strands with our new soft to the touch high-powered staple gun. After three one-hundred count packs of specialized outdoor Christmas lights, we plugged it in and flipped the switch.
Only one of the strands worked.Oops. It was the one to the left side of the house, leaving us with the lopsided Christmas effect. Needless to say, it was not that cheerful. Oh well. We left it that way for a while. Every night we flicked on the outside lights for everyone to see our sad attempts of Christmas cheer.
With enough hated stares from our neighbors, we finally ran out to the new Target store that opened up in Henrietta (yet another suburb of Rochester), and loaded up on white Christmas lights.
We put up seven additional one-hundred count strands of lights that covered the tops of two bushes, and a small Japanese Cherry tree. And yes, I did return back to the colored strands and fixed them too, so they all worked.
For the last week, we have been living in Santa land.
In addition to the lights, Liz has been partaking in baking Christmas cakes for people. They take about four hours for each onespecially handcrafted to look like a textured log surrounded by flakes of snow and candied mushrooms and flowers. Yes, she made those too.
. . . .
Today, we are headed down to New York City again. And, we are going to spend Christmas with Shirley and Mike. Undecided whether we will cook or not, we may have another traditional yuppie New York City Christmas.
. . . .
Hope all is well. And if not, whatever troubles may lay, let us put it aside for little while. Lest we forget, it is the holidaysMerry Christmas and Happy New Year.
