10.1.2003 Babies are Interesting
I wish I could remember what it was like for me when I was a baby -- I hear stories that I was pretty needy -- I liked to be held a lot or at the very least, very physically close to my mother. She tells me that there was this one time, while she was taking a nap and I was in the crib next to the bed. I managed to climb out of the crib and crawled next to her leg.
This would probably explain why I'm sort of on the touchy side. I enjoy holding Elizabeth's hand, even when we're home alone. (Please note however that this does not mean that I turn into a blundering idiot when she's not around though. We're talking healthy here).
It's really interesting to witness Megan's behaviors. She's almost three weeks old now and its just amazing to see how she responds to things. Certains things are now obviously inherited behaviors -- like the way she yawns. She makes this loud exhaling sound originating from the back of the throat. Just like me. And, just like my father does too.
Then, there's the farting. No comment.
Babies, they grow at an alarming rate. The first week she looked just like a miniature version of Elizabeth. The second week, she looked more like me. Yeah, it's pretty cool.
As you can imagine, we've been pretty busy lately. Fortuntely, Elizabeth's mom and grandmother are visiting and helping out. This along with frequent visits from my parents, there's more than enough helping hands around.
We're hanging in there.
